The latest news about the LA meeting in Turkey

E-mail Print PDF

Happy New year to all!

We hope you had great time celebrating the new year. At least the group of over 20 members had wonderful time in the old medieval town Berching, thanks to Bernd Knüfer, who organised this event!

The next event will be Back2 Brussels 5-7.3. More news will follow soon. If you want to join the team please contact Susanna.

Here follows some updated information about our next Les Anciens Meeting from Burcu, Mustafa and Refet:

We are very excited about 2010, since we will be meeting you and celebrate the new year, AEGEE’s birthday and Les Anciens’ birthday altogether in Turkey!

Having received many positive e-mails and having accordingly checked the logistics options as well as the frequency and price of flight connections once again, we decided to shift the official programme to Olympos, Antalya with a post-event in Kayaköy, Fethiye.

Therefore, we will have the following programme:

26th May Wednesday – 27th May Thursday 2010 – pre-event in Olympos, Antalya (Antalya airport)
28th May Friday – 29th May Saturday – 30th May 2010 Sunday– official Les Anciens Meeting in Olympos, Antalya (Antalya Airport)
31st May Monday – 1st of June Tuesday – post-event in Kayaköy, Fethiye (Dalaman airport)

The pre-event and the post event will also be organised in the south coast of Turkey. There will be no pre-event or post-event in İstanbul, however since we know that some friends would like to take their time in İstanbul, we will be ready to assist you in finding your way in the city.

In Olympos, most probably we will be staying altogether in Bayram’s place, which means we will be very close to the sea and we will not need to split into different hotels.

We will soon open the applications and send you updated information on the programme and logistics.

We would like to encourage you to reserve the dates in your agenda and start booking your flights.

Here comes some useful links on travel connections.

Sailors Explored Dalmatian Islands

E-mail Print PDF

The sailors relaxing in a cocktail bar in the eveningAfter the trips starting in Trogir near Split in 2006 and in Dubrovnik in 2007 nine sailors of Les Anciens started their trip in Sukošan/Zadar and  explored several islands in Northern Dalmatia, Croatia, during the week from 23rd until 30th of August, 2008. Nine GPS devices, two magnetic compasses and a sun clock that also shows directions made sure the crew wouldn't get lost in the Adriatic Sea.

In the mornings we started with a breakfast on the boat, then we started to sail along the Dalmatian islands, stopping in a beautiful bay for a swim and watching the fish. Sometimes we played the guitar and sang, maybe scaring the fish by doing so. In the afternoons we reached our destination where we usually went for a walk and had dinner in a restaurant in the evening. Later on we went to a bar or had fun on the boat.

During our trip we went with our boat through the Kornati national park, a bunch of islands devastated by the Romans by cutting all the trees causing erosion and thus ruining the soil and nowadays cleverly marketed as a mystic piece of nature by their private owners and crowds of people trying to sell boat trips all along the seaside in Zadar and Šibenik.

If you envy us and feel like joining next year's trip: It will probably be back to the roots of the Les Anciens sailing trips, in Greece. You can find photos of the sailing trip in the photo gallery on this website.

You can tack, you can jibe, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the sailing queen

New Board Elected at Meeting in Slovenia

E-mail Print PDF

Gunnar Erth, the new LA coordinatorLjubljana - This year's Les Anciens (LA) Meeting started on Thursday 21st of May with a trip to the picturesque town Bled where some participants rowed to the island while others walked around the lake or climbed to the castle. In the afternoon the brave ones were rafting on the river Soča. On Friday the trip continued with a tour through Piran at the Slovenian coast and to a wine cellar before returning to Ljubljana.

At the meeting the financial report and the activities of the past year were presented: The meeting in Cairo with its pre-events in Asswan and in the desert and the post-event in Dahab at the Red Sea, the LA Summer University in Tuscany, the sailing week in Dalmatia, the New Year's Event in Finland and Back2Brussels. Then three workshops were held: one about the statutes of Les Anciens, one about the relation of LA to AEGEE and the Project 20/25 (anniversary year 2010) and the third about IT matters and internal communication.

In the end of the session a new board was elected: Gunnar Erth, who had been in charge of activities in the past year, became the new Les Anciens coordinator, Wiebke Hahn is the new secretary, Susanna Ritala will be responsible for the coordination of activities, Tim Sattler is the first treasurer of LA, and Jens-Erik Weber remains IT responsible. René Keijzer will work outside the board in the field of PR and information. The former coordinator Koen Berden and secretary Barbara Bolta quit the board after 4 years.

Next year's Les Anciens Meeting will take place in Turkey, organized by masseur Mustafa Kürgen and Refet Saban .

Successful Les Anciens Summer University Tuscany

E-mail Print PDF

The townhall at the main square of SienaFrom 5th till the 12th of July 18 people gathered in Tuscany for the 2nd Les Anciens Summer University. They had an amazing time in their rented house in the village of Starda/Gaiole in the heart of the Chianti wine region. During the week they visited amazing places such as Florence (special thanks to Anna Karger for the great sightseeing tour!), Siena, San Gimignano and Volterra, they visited several castle, participated in wine-tastings and ate meters of pizza or relaxed in the great pool of their house. The village inhabitants still tell each other stories of the crazy foreigners in their convoy of dusty cars…

It was great fun – so don’t miss next year’s LA Summer Uni!

Photos will come up soon in the gallery of this website.

You can find some impressions on Facebook. (Link is not working any more.)
